Review - what is it and how is it measured?

We believe in the research proven power of spaced-repetition learning, and consider skill mastery something that must be earned over time. Accordingly, once a student has earned proficiency in a skill, we ask the student to review the skill after a week (turning the skill orange). This is what a review skill looks like:

Progress report: Time for Amelia and Old Spice Man to brush up on some skills.

Student’s can access review problems by selecting the review exercise or going through all of their review problems using the “Prove your mastery” callout:

Knowledge map: Click "Attain mastery" to go through all your review skills.

If the student gets the review question right the first time, we double the time until they’ll next review that skill (up to a maximum of 6 months). If the student misses the first review question, we halve the time until their next review (down to a minimum of 1 day).

We’re constantly working to refine our algorithms to help students learn, and will keep this post updated as our models improve.
